Mark Bittman recently turned his best-selling book into an iPhone app. One night, while going through it with my roomie, we looked at his list of Pantry basics and were able to confirm everything on his list. Kind of pathetic yet kind of intriguing. Back pats were had.

While he had broad terms (dried beans!) I might as well be a bit more specific if we’re going to cook together.
